A brief overview of Rangemaster Induction Range Cookers

Rangemaster induction range cookers combine a five-zone induction hob with electric ovens in one freestanding cooker. The range covers several series: Aura, Classic, Classic Deluxe, Cotswold, Elise, Nexus, Professional, Professional Deluxe and Professional+. It suits cooks who want the room of a range cooker with the quick, responsive heat of induction. Widths of 90 cm, 100 cm and 110 cm let you match the cooker to your space. Induction needs pans with a magnetic base, and a cooker this size needs a suitable electrical supply, so check both before you buy.

Oven layout is where the models differ most. Most 90 cm models have two cavities, while the 100 cm Classic and Classic Deluxe models have three, so you can cook at different temperatures at once. The Classic FX 90 takes the opposite approach with a single 114 litre multifunction oven, which is useful for large roasting tins and batch baking. Cleaning varies too. Many ovens have enamel interiors that you wipe down by hand. Classic Deluxe models have a catalytic left oven, and Nexus models list one too. Catalytic liners absorb grease spatter during cooking at high temperatures, so you scrub less.

Some series add practical touches. Elise and Professional+ models come with a Handyrack, an adjustable rack that hangs on the oven door so you can baste a roast without lifting it out. Catch-rite door fixtures and a Nite-Lite clock, which dims automatically at night, appear on Elise and Professional+ FX models. The clock is a nice detail in an open-plan room. Elise models also list SpillGuard technology, which keeps spills on the hob, and a dual circuit glide-out grill. Professional+ models have porthole oven doors, and Elise models have solid doors. Most series come in a choice of colours, and Professional and Professional Deluxe models are also made in stainless steel.

To narrow things down, measure your space to fix the width first. Then decide whether you would rather have one large oven or two or three separate ones, and whether a catalytic oven is worth having.
