A guide to Siemens Cooker Hoods and extraction
Siemens cooker hoods cover most ways of clearing steam from a kitchen: wall-mounted chimney, angled and canopy hoods, concealed integrated and telescopic designs, a downdraft extractor and venting hobs that build extraction into an induction hob. Models span the iQ100, iQ300, iQ500 and iQ700 series, mostly in black with a few in silver, and most can either duct air outside or recirculate it through filters.
Start with where the extraction will go. Siemens chimney cooker hoods come in 60 and 90 cm widths, while Siemens angled hoods tilt the front away from your head and run from 60 to 90 cm. If you'd rather the hood disappeared, Siemens integrated cooker hoods fit into a wall cabinet with a fold-out glass panel, in 60, 80 and 90 cm, and Siemens canopy cooker hoods sit inside a chimney breast or bespoke housing, from 52 to 86 cm wide. Siemens telescopic cooker hoods pull forward from beneath a cabinet when you need them. For an island, the Siemens down draft extractor works at worktop level behind the hob, and the venting hobs, some using Siemens' InductionAir or InductionAir Plus system, draw steam down through the hob itself so no overhead hood is needed.
The series makes a real difference. Some iQ700 models add a second booster level, reaching up to 1007 m³/h on the 90 cm angled hood, and the iQ700 integrated hoods and downdraft extractor are internet connected. The iQ300 chimney and integrated hoods keep things simple with three speeds, push-button controls and no booster. Energy ratings range from A++ on the iQ500 chimney hoods to D on one canopy hood, so check the label if running costs matter. Recirculating needs a filter kit; the iQ500 angled glass hoods list an optional CleanAir Plus kit, designed to cut odours and trap pollen.
To narrow it down, decide between a visible hood, a hidden one or worktop extraction, choose a width at least as wide as your hob, then compare booster power and noise figures against how you cook. For other appliances, see Siemens built-in kitchen appliances or all Siemens products.
