Ceilings integrated hoods are a good choice for open plan kitchens. They are most effective if mounted at the highest point of the ceiling, providing extraction for the whole room not just around the hob. The fumes reach the hood within minutes, so there is not the same instant effect achieved by a conventional hood close to the hob.
