FAQs

What is the difference between ex display and clearance appliances?

Ex-display appliances are unboxed floor models used in showrooms for display or demonstration purposes, meaning they may have minor cosmetic marks and lack original packaging. Clearance models are typically items that have been returned (for example, if a customer has changed their mind) but are brand new. Clearance models may not have their original packaging - this will be shown in the photos on our website or you can check with one of our team online or by phone.

Both are fully functional and offer significant savings compared to standard retail prices.

What to ask when buying ex-display appliances?

When buying an ex-display appliance, ask the retailer if all original accessories and fitting kits are included, whether the full manufacturer warranty applies, and if there are any documented cosmetic blemishes.

You should also confirm if you can inspect the unit or receive detailed photos before purchasing, as well as clarify their return policy if undisclosed damage occurs during delivery.

Do ex-display appliances come with manufacturer warranty?

Yes, most ex-display appliances purchased from RDO come with a full manufacturer warranty, typically ranging from 1 to 5 years depending on the brand. This covers mechanical and electrical faults starting from your invoice date, though pre-existing cosmetic wear noted at the time of sale is excluded from manufacturer coverage. You must also register your new appliance with the manufacturer for an extended warranty (anything over 1 year).

Does appliance warranty cover cosmetic damage on ex display?

No, manufacturer warranties do not cover pre-existing cosmetic damage such as minor surface scratches, dents, or scuffs on ex-display units. The warranty is designed specifically to protect against mechanical, electrical, and functional faults that affect the appliance's performance. Any physical blemishes noted at the time of purchase are sold "as-is" and are excluded from future cosmetic claims.

How much could I save on luxury kitchen appliances?

Clearance and ex-display discounts at RDO vary depending on the item and brand. Price markdowns start from around £50 up to extraordinary savings of over £13,000 on ultra-premium, multi-unit luxury appliance sets from top manufacturers like Liebherr, Smeg, Miele, and Neff.

Can I reject a clearance appliance on delivery if damaged?

Yes, you can inspect the appliance upon arrival and reject the delivery if it exhibits undisclosed transit damage or missing components provided these were not detailed at the time of purchase.
