There are available in many different styles and dimension. Many of the smaller stylistic hoods will only enable you to re-circulate the air in your kitchen, but many hoods will give you the option to duct out the air as well.
As well as considering the look of the wall mounted hood you like, it is also good to check the performance in terms of the level of how powerful it is to extract air, measured in meters per hours (m3h) and also how loud in decibels (db) it is to operate at its maximum level.  
A wall mounted hood will usually feature lighting to help brighten up your cooking area.
