The De Dietrich saga began in Jaegerthal, a valley north of Strasbourg. In 1684, Johann Dietrich, a wealthy banker, tested his luck and invested in a forge to produce iron and steel. He moulded all his creations from a hunting horn, thus creating the first logo in industrial history. An official supplier of cannons and cannon balls to the kingdom of France for over a century, the company entered a new era under the leadership of Jean de Dietrich, who inherited the company and was ennobled by Louis XV. Amélie Dietrich continued the brand’s legacy with her forays into incorporating design and aesthetics into industrial production. Ever since this decisive boost, the brand has been continuously developing its sense of innovation and Art of Living.
