Any tips would be most welcome and appreciated! Thank you!

I want the hood set either just above the bottom of what remains of the chimney breast or have it sitting flush.
The width or height isn't a problem, but the depth of the hole is only 230mm....
Anybody got any ideas please?

I'm looking to buy a new range (oven/stove in one unit..not sure if it's called a "range" in the UK...I'm from Canada).

I noticed the LG uses terms like "4 pass 3400 watts" for the oven. I've seen some say "6 pass 3400 watts". What does this mean?

Bosch just mentions the wattage no "4 pass".

Sorry. I think the "4 pass" and "6 pass" are for Whirlpool ranges.

The GE I have now was left by the last owner of my condo suite. Basic. Uses the old coils for the stove heating elements. Has troubles going beyond 406F. Once there the range turns off and the temp drops about 50F. Then the oven light turns on again. Rises to roughly 406F again. I wanted it to roast a prime rib at 500F for 20 min consistently. My old Whirlpool (more advanced & digital) would get to the selected temp and stay there. Or so the reading would say on the display (LED).

Pain trying to use the oven if I can't preheat and if it can stay at a set temp.

What should I be looking for in a good reliable range today?

We've got an old New World Insight gas cooker which is excellent. It's a freestanding cooker has a separate grill under the hob, but now 25 years old and getting scruffy and unreliable. So as we're getting a new kitchen we're looking for a new cooker. The great thing about the old New World Insight is its fantastic 'Sola' grill, which produces a beautiful even heat all over this grill area, so you can grill a whole grill pan full of sausages (which we do) and they all cook evenly. It's brilliant for toast too. We've not got a big kitchen so to get in a hob and grill and separate oven into the space we've got I think we're looking at a freestanding cooker, preferably 55cm wide or less. Oh, and it needs to run on LPG as we're not on the mains.

Well, we're struggling to find a cooker with a decent grill, the one's we've found have the old-fashioned type with a line of flames down the middle which I've always found pretty poor.

Has anyone got any suggestions for a gas cooker with a really good grill?

Someone's recommended the New World NW55TWLG but I don't know whether the grill is any good. I do know that New World has been taken over so isn't the same company as it was when they made our old Insight.
