EXTENDED WARRANTIES

UNDERWRITTEN BY: Domestic and General Insurance Company Ltd

Extended warranties are available for most items we sell, please choose your 3 year or 5 year warranty on the shopping basket page.

Appliance Guarantees:
In the unlikely event of your goods being delivered damaged, please contact us within 24 hours of delivery. We cannot accept claims for damage after this date. Products faulty with 28 days of delivery may be repaired or replaced in line with our procedures above. Subsequent failure occurring within one year (varies depending on product) from date of purchase is covered by the manufacturer's guarantee. All appliances sold by RDO are subject to the manufacturers' guarantee, which will usually cover the appliance for parts and labour. The manufacturers warranty is subject to that particular manufacturer's terms and conditions.

Extended Warranties:
We offer a comprehensive policy and customers are strongly recommended to take this out, as manufacturers' warranties may not always cover in home service. Our policies have been specially designed to spare you the inconvenience and growing expense of any repairs which may occur to your electrical equipment after the manufacturer's guarantee has expired. With a choice of 3 or 5 years protection against repair from the date you make your purchase. During that period you will have the peace of mind of knowing that you will have no bills to pay as a result of electrical or mechanical breakdown of your appliance, however much wear and tear it receives through normal use. (Commercial use is not covered)

The Policy
WHAT IS COVERED

  1. The cost of repairs to the equipment, including parts and labour charges following mechanical or electrical breakdown.
  2. The cost of repairs following accidental damage.
  3. For freezing equipment only: loss or damage to freezer food up to the value of £300

WHAT IS NOT COVERED

We shall not be liable for the costs incurred:

  1. During the manufacturer's guarantee period (unless due to accidental damage)
  2. As a result of the recall or modification of all equipment in a model range.
  3. By equipment used for non- -domestic use.
  4. As a result of routine maintenance ( cleaning, descaling, overhaul or modification)
  5. If manufacturers' instructions are disregarded.
  6. Due to incorrect installation, modification or maintenance of electricity, or water supplies or systems.
  7. Due suspension or termination of any mains service due to any act, failure or default by you, your family or other persons.
  8. If any part or component, including suitable refrigerant is no longer available or is out of manufacture.
  9. In respect of plugs, fuses, batteries, light bulbs, fluorescent tubes and related starters, light covers, dents, scratches, paintwork, cabinets, cosmetic trim, filters, attachments, spark plugs. In the case of Audio/ Visual Equipment: tuning, styli cartridges, Satellite equipment, repositioning, or realignment of dish, damage due to the action of sunlight or the ingress of moisture, or any repair if the equipment, has not been professionally installed.
  10. Computers: software, including the operating system, printer heads, non-integral controls, (such as mouse), peripherals not specified.
  11. In the case of cooking equipment: oven liners.
  12. Vacuum cleaners: bags/brushes belts. Floor polishers: brushes.

FURTHER CONDITIONS:

  1. The cover is effective worldwide, as long as repairs are carried out in the UK.
  2. The policy may only be assigned to another person with written consent of Domestic and General.
  3. If we consider the equipment to be beyond economic repair we may pay you the replacement cost of the equipment of similar specification subject to the following depreciation scale: No depreciation for the first Five years, a depreciation of 50% at the expiry of the fifth year after purchase, 60% at the expiry of the sixth year after purchase, 70% at the expiry of the seventh year after purchase thereafter. Please note that the original equipment becomes the property of Domestic and General and cover will cease immediately with no refund of premium. Any outstanding premium will be deducted from the payment made.
  4. Cover is subject to the Terms and Conditions of the policy issued. A specimen policy giving full details of exclusions and conditions can be obtained on request. The proposer should keep copies of any correspondence relating to this application. A copy of the accepted application form is available for up to three months after its completion. Purchasing a Domestic and General breakdown insurance policy does not limit your protection under the manufacturer's guarantee, nor does it affect your statutory rights.

This will be detailed on your certificate of Insurance

Under Oftel regulations we are obliged to inform you that your telephone conversation may be recorded.

CANCELLATION

If you decide to cancel the policy during the manufacture's guarantee and no claims have been made, a full refund of premium will be allowed. For cancellations made after the manufacture's guarantee has expired a refund of the premium will be allowed based on our normal short period rates. No refund of premium will be allowed if any claims have been made.

COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE

Any enquiry or complaint regarding your policy may be addressed to Domestic and General. Should you remain dissatisfied you can approach the Association of Insurers for assistance at: 51 Gresham Street, London EC2V 7HQ (please direct your complaints to; "The Consumer Information Dept.," You have the right to ask for the Insurance Ombudsman Bureau to review your case. They can be contacted at the following address: The Insurance Ombudsman Bureau, City Gate One, 135 Park street, London SE1 9EA

DATA PROTECTION ACT

Domestic and General Group of Companies will hold your name and address on computer for breakdown insurance and other marketing purposes. This information will not be supplied to any other third parties. Should you prefer not to receive such marketing information please write to the Data Protection Officer, Domestic and General Insurance co. Ltd., Leicester House, 17 Leicester Street, Bedworth, Nuneaton, Warks. CV12 8JP

DIRECT DEBIT GUARANTEE

This guarantee is offered by al Banks and Building Societies that take part in the Direct Debit Scheme. The efficiency and security of the scheme is monitored and protected by your own Bank or Building Society. If the amounts to be paid or the payments dates change, you will be told of this in advance by at least 14 days as agreed. If an error is made by Domestic and general or your Bank or Building Society, you are guaranteed a full and immediate refund from your branch of the amount paid. You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by writing to your Bank or Building Society. Please also send a copy of your letter to us.
